Snowboarding basic pointers for becoming the best

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

There’s much debate as to where snowboarding originated. But whether snowboarding descended from skiing or skateboarding, snowboarding is a legitimized sport that needs a descent on a snowy slope employing a snowboard. It is hard to truly mention who started this fun-packed sport, but one thing is for sure : someone will always have the concept of sliding down a snowy slope on a board or sled. The growing recognition of snowboarding around the planet is proven by its multinational as a sports discipline in 1995. As such, snowboarding has been included in events in Winter Olympic Games and Winter X-games. It’s got a US Open competition of its own. The expansion of snowboarding as a sport is definite as more folks get hooked on it. Now you are among the numerous ones who wish to try out the fun and excitement that only snowboarding can give, it is time that you learn the fundamentals of making your first downhill ride on a snowboard. So how does one begin? First, you want to gain the essential snowboarding plant. You want to have the right snowboarding gear, clothing, boots, and of course, snowboard.

Ensure that your snowboard is the proper size for you ; not so expansive or narrow. If you already have the obligatory hardware, you can begin learning the fundamentals of riding your snowboard. Here are some important things to recollect as you begin to find your destiny in snowboarding. Remember that snowboarding is equivalent to snow skiing. The body movements that allow you to manipulate and stabilise your snowboard are the same as the movements in skiing. , if you are a talented skier, there’ll be less issues for you ahead.

A skier will have easier time than a skateboard thrasher to learn snowboarding. Always be in a cool position. Like any sport, snowboarding needs a calm and hang-loose mind-set. Most accidents and wounds in snowboarding occur when one is in tensed position.

As you mount your snowboard, keep your knees bent ; a stiff position will only make you absorb impacts between your snowboard and snow. Don’t start to learn ways to snowboard by right away riding down the snowy slope during the 1st time. Instead, start with snowboarding across a tiny patch of snow. Get an understanding of the game. Be aware of your snowboard and your movement. Are you comfy in your getup and equipment? Try steering the snowboard over the little area you are in. Practice making turns, learn the finer points of toe-side turns, meaning turning by lifting your heels up while pressing your toes to the snowboard ; or heel-side turns, which employ your heels for your turning. When you have mastered the fundamentals of balancing and steering your snowboard, you can move to a larger patch of snow, but don’t try a long and sheer slope yet. Now you have basically moved on your snowboard, you have got to find out how to stop your snowboard. Stopping a snowboard essentially needs making more turns till you find your self going for an uphill position.

An uphill direction will actually slow your snowboard down till you are in a total stop. After learning all of the basic riding movements, you can now try a full-scale ride down a longer and steeper snow slope.

Good luck!

Starting snowboarding

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Are you thinking about starting snowboarding? Well its not as tricky as you might have thought. What ever you plan to do when you get on the slopes you will really have a great time. In my younger days I always believed snowboarding was really heard to get started on, but wow was I wrong. I need to tell you this one thing, before hitting the slopes take lessons as this will aid you in what to expect.

Booking your lessons doesn’t have to be hard. All you need to do is have a chat at your local snowboarding slope and these will be able to put you in contact with a snowboarding tutor in your area. The prices could range from $35 per hour, but if you choose to take group lessons these are a lot cheaper. Having group lessons means more than one person are being taught at the same time, this is really very simple. My friend gave me my first lesson, but I recommend you get a professional snowboarding instructor to teach you. You will be in save hands as they will have been teaching snowboarding for many years, not only are they excellent at snowboarding, but will be able to speak better with the learner.

A lot of individuals ask what they should buy for beginning snowboarding. My answer to this is probably nothing if you have the right kind of clothing in your wardrobe. For those who are just beginning it may be best to lend it from your local snowboarding slope. Many places will offer this free of charge when you pay to use the slope. The reason for this is because in your first lesson you may not enjoy it as much as you might think. Just think how much money you will have lost if you don’t like it or don’t want to have any more lessons. This is the reason you need to consider when learning before you buy anything.

When going to the slope it is important that you have the correct clothing. Even if you haven’t been before! I recommend you wear thick clothes, the thicker the better and gloves. The best gloves to wear are water proof ones, but if it is your first session it may be pointless paying for a pair if you don’t like snowboarding and wont use again. This makes a lot of sense. I also suggest wearing your water proofs if you have some for your snowboarding lesson. If you them you may have a better chance in the competition. Even if you have warm clothing on it wont be warm for long, as it becomes wet. Never the less you should always wear warm clothes, that is if you don’t want to feel cold on the slopes. Another vital piece of equipment is sun glasses. When on the slopes if the sun is in your eyes it is hard for you to work with your board, also the sun will reflect off the snow and could blind you unless you have UV sunglasses.

One final thing I need to say. Get out there and enjoy yourself. I am pretty sure you will love snowboarding.
